Greater Accra Maulid: IFPAD Organized Health Insurance Renewal Exercise

In preparation for the 55th Annual Greater Accra Maulid celebrations, the Islamic Foundation for Peace and Development (IFPAD) organized a National Health Insurance renewal and issuance exercise for residents of Shukura and surrounding communities. This initiative, part of the lead-up to the Maulid celebration, registered both children and adults, enabling them to access quality healthcare.

IFPAD organizers emphasized their commitment to ensuring that a significant number of Zongo community members receive health insurance, enhancing healthcare access for local residents. Deputy Executive Secretary of IFPAD, Ibrahim Anyass Ahmed, explained that the Maulid event honors the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and aims to create a meaningful impact within the community.

Anyass noted that this Health Insurance exercise is a way of giving back, aiming to ease the burden on Zongo philanthropists who are frequently called upon to meet community health needs. By helping individuals obtain their health insurance cards, the initiative alleviates pressure on community benefactors.

He further shared that the Greater Accra Regional Maulid is a collaborative effort between the IFPAD and the Supreme Council of Tijaniya Islamic Affairs Ghana, under the spiritual leadership of Sheikh Yahaya Amin (RTA), who serves as both the founder of the former and deputy Supreme Leader of the latter organizations.

IFPAD also extended heartfelt gratitude to Greater Accra Youth Chief (Sarkin Samarin Ankara), Alhaji Salisu Maude, and other supporters for their generosity in making the initiative successful. Ahmed highlighted Maude’s consistent support, noting that his philanthropy has positively impacted the Zongo communities and has helped change lives.

The main Maulid event is scheduled for January 28, 2023, at the Lord’s Wembley Plus in Shukura, with dignitaries from across West Africa and beyond expected to attend.
